The tournament medalist, Tyler Reisenauer of Ellendale carded 81 as did runner-up Dillon Bishop of Lisbon. For the Imperials, Morgan Schwartzenberger led the pack with an 89, Nathan Kleppe 91, Donovan Gross 91, Brady Fettig 92, Jonah Schwartzenberger 98 and Paul Buchholz 102, None of the Imperials placed in the top 10.

Set for Success
Imperial Varsity Track Teams Travel to Linton
Coach Chad Lindeman enjoys winning and seeing his athletes have success in every track meet, but he also sees a bigger picture beyond each meet, including the Linton Lions Invite held on April 22. “We strive to put each of our athletes in positions that will give them, and the team, the best chance at success”, says Lindeman. “But with some of these meets, the emphasis is on setting these kids up for success in later meets that we deem more important.”

“These meets are what I like to call “table-setters”, continued Lindeman. “Hopefully we’ll be eating well when it comes to the main courses, like varsity conference championships and regional championships. But you have to give the kids the necessary tools first before they can eat big.”

As a team, the boys’ finished 5th out of eight teams with a total score of 55 points. Linton ran away with the team title by earning 262 points.

In the girls’ division, Alicia Rodlund had a big day as she placed in all four of her events. Alicia took 2nd in the 200 with a 2008 best of 30.14 seconds, 4th in the 100 (13.94), 4th in the long jump with a PB 13’ 2 ½” leap, and was part of the 4 x 400 relay team that took 1st (4:36); other members of the relay included Katie Grunefelder, Mikayla Young, and Sheridon Dewald. Other Lady Imperials who had remarkable days included: Ali Werre, who shaved nine seconds off her season best to run a 2008 best 2:57 (5th) in the 800; Ali also had her best jump in nearly two years by jumping 26’ 7” (4th) in the triple jump event.
